Ready is not a feeling, it's a choice.
What I'm Noticing
I've been sitting with something lately that I've been watching play out everywhere: in my own life, in conversations with clients, in the energy of our community.
This pattern of waiting.
Waiting to feel ready. Waiting for the fear to subside. Waiting for some cosmic green light that says, "Okay, NOW you can move forward."
I don’t know about you, but I have never once felt ready. Not when I began my book. Not when I started Marketers’ Community. Not when I started my coaching business. And now, when I step onto stages I’ve only ever once dreamed of….I still don’t feel ready. Every single leap is met with my body literally shaking, and I second-guess myself countless times. My mind catalogs every reason I’m not qualified enough, experienced enough, ready enough.
Believe me, every single “successful” person I’ve met (and I’ve met countless business owners, CEOs, community leaders) they all confide in me the same thing: they still get nervous and they still have doubt.
If you're convinced that everyone else has this thing “figured out” and you're the only one still struggling, I see you.
If you’re wondering how much longer it’s going to be before your dreams get to come true, I feel you.
If you're in that uncomfortable space between who you were and who you're becoming, feeling like you can't go back but terrified to move forward, I really see you.
You're not alone in this.
What's Possible From Here
Faith isn't built when everything feels aligned and you're riding high on success. Faith is forged in the silence. In the mess. When every logical indicator says to quit. When you're convinced you can't take another step forward.
That feeling you're waiting for? That sense of being "ready"? It doesn't arrive before the leap. It comes after. Sometimes long after.
What if the discomfort you're feeling isn't a sign that something's wrong, but evidence that something's changing?
What if that tightness in your chest isn't fear warning you to stop, but your old self releasing its grip so your new self can emerge?
The cost of continuing to wait is that you'll keep recycling the same patterns, the same safe choices, the same small version of your life. Going back to the old might feel safer, but it feels like a slow death, doesn't it?
You know you can't unknow what you now know. You can't unfeel what you've felt. You can't shrink back into a life or a career that no longer fits.
The future might terrify you, but staying stuck terrifies you just as much.
So what changes when we release our white-knuckle grip on the timeline, the outcomes, our ego's version of how it should all unfold? What happens when we hand it over to something bigger than our fear?
Clarity.
And guess what? Clarity happens in motion. Each step brings more clarity. You're not supposed to know the how before you begin. Your job is to hold the vision of the life and the person you most desire to become, then listen to the prompts, the nudges, your inner knowing one micro-move at a time. You haven't come this far to give up now.
Micro-Moves
This week, I'm inviting you to choose ONE way to practice building faith in the silence:
What if you named one decision you've been waiting to feel ready for? Just name it. Write it down. Look at it honestly. Then ask yourself: What's the smallest possible step I could take this week, even without feeling ready? Not the whole leap. Just the next right micro-move.
Or try this: Notice when you're gripping too tightly. When you catch yourself trying to control the timeline, the outcome, the how of it all, take a breath. Place your hand on your heart. Say out loud or silently: "I just need to take the next step." Focus on the next right action of integrity.
Here are a few questions to sit with this week: When was the last time you felt truly ready before doing something meaningful? What became possible when you moved forward anyway? What vision are you holding for your life right now, and what's one nudge you've been ignoring?
Remember, growth is uncomfortable. But it's also necessary. And you're not walking this path alone. We're all figuring this out together, one imperfect step at a time.
Ready is not a feeling. It's a choice.
I'm rooting for you to make some bold choices this week. Cheering for you, always.
With deep belief in your magnificence,
Laura
P.S. The audio version of Shine Brighter is coming to Audible soon, and I cannot wait to share it with you. Stay tuned.
