Stop accepting "fine" as your standard of living

Forgive me, but I’m going to be direct with this one…

You wouldn't drive your car for months with the gas light on, wondering why it keeps sputtering. You wouldn't keep using a phone that dies at 20% battery and call it "normal." You wouldn't live in a house where the electricity only worked some of the time.

So why do some people go through the motions and just accept a life that feels drained?

Here's what I see happening in more places than I’d like to admit: brilliant, capable people who've convinced themselves that Sunday night dread is normal. That working through every vacation is just part of success. That feeling disconnected from their own family at dinner is the price they have to pay for achievement.

You know what that is? That's not success. That's high-functioning misalignment and it's only going to get worse unless something changes.

Here's what I know after working with hundreds of high-achievers:

There are two types of people in this world. The ones who feel that quiet ache of misalignment and think, "This is just how life is." And the ones who feel it and say, "I refuse to accept this as my normal."

The first group stays stuck in patterns that drain them. They keep hoping things will magically get better when the kids are older, when work slows down, when life gets less complicated.

The second group? They make one decision that changes everything: They invest in themselves.

Not their business. Not their resume. Not their networking events. Themselves.

What actually happens when you invest in yourself:

You stop checking email during your daughter's soccer game not because you have to, but because you genuinely want to be there. Fully present.

You wake up Monday morning without that heavy feeling in your chest because your work finally feels aligned with who you are.

You make decisions without second-guessing yourself for weeks because you've learned to trust your inner compass again.

You have energy left for the people and things that matter most, not just the leftover scraps after you've given everything to everyone else.

This isn't wishful thinking. This is what every single person who's done the work tells me.

Jennifer discovered her core values and strengths through the workshop and used them to completely pivot her career: "Thanks to Laura's support and guidance, I am now confidently pursuing a career that resonates with who I am and what I love to do."

Carrie stayed in her current role but made micro-moves that transformed everything: "I started showing up differently. My confidence deepened, and I was equipped to have a conversation with my employer about how to adjust my role slightly to better use my skills and find alignment in my life."

And Paul? He realized he could start his own business a decade sooner than he thought possible: "It went from feeling total despair about my eliminated role to being in the best position professionally, personally, and with my family."

So here's my question for you:

What would you do if you knew (I mean really knew) that investing time and energy in getting aligned would give you back more time, more energy, and more joy than anything else you could possibly do? And yes, roll your eyes at me.

Because that's exactly what happens.

The Pursue Your Purpose Workshop is taking place on September 11-12. Two half days that will walk you through my 4 A's Framework—the exact process that's helped hundreds of people stop accepting "fine" as their standard and start creating lives (and careers) that feel extraordinary from the inside out.

This isn't about finding yourself through some mystical journey. This is a practical, grounded framework that creates real results.

We're talking about clarity on what actually matters to you. Tools for making decisions that honor your values. A roadmap for creating success that energizes you instead of depleting you.

And if you're thinking, "I don't have time for this," then that's exactly why you need it.

The people who think they don't have time to invest in themselves are the ones burning out on vacation, missing their kids' bedtime stories because they're stuck in another "urgent" meeting, and wondering why success doesn't feel like they thought it would.

Plus, everyone who registers gets my "21 Days to Shine Brighter” online course absolutely free—that's another $297 value you'll receive right after the workshop to keep the momentum going.

Listen, you can keep waiting for the perfect time. You can keep telling yourself that things will get better when life slows down. You can continue to accept that quiet ache as just part of being a high achiever.

Or you can decide that you're done with "fine" being your standard.

Your future self is waiting for you.

See you in September,

Laura
