I never, ever could have guessed this is where I'd end up. And that's exactly the point.
Old Laura. New Laura.
Have you ever gotten pulled in a direction that you excites you and scares you at the same time?
Almost like a calling?
I’ve been on this path for about 3 years now, following the voice of my intuition and soul. It hasn’t made sense to a lot of people. It hasn’t made sense to myself at times. Yet, there’s a peace that washes over me and whispers “you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be” even when my logical mind says “you’re crazy”
My logical mind wants to have the future exactly planned out. Know exactly how everything will unfold. But it doesn’t work like that. It never has. Every time I thought I had certainty over something (a job, a relationship, a business deal) - life revealed to me that I have no control at all.
“Cute, Laura, that you think you have everything figured out”
After I lost my mind in 2023 and crawled my way out of the darkness, one step at a time things shifted. Prior to 2023 my entire identity was wrapped around being a top performer, my external marker of my safety. As long as I was “on top” I was ok.
But when that crumbles….who are you?? Therein lies the work.
Old Laura forced, efforted, worked endless hours…but in a state of panic.
New Laura allows, gives, receives, finding more energy in flow and joy….which old Laura would have NEVER believed possible.
Pinch Me. Seriously.
Which makes me think, gosh, what else could unfold in the future that I don’t believe is possible today?
And that my friends, is what growth is all about. Removing limitations. I mean, could your 10 year old self ever imagined what you have today? Therefore, can our 45-year old self imagine what life will be like 5-10-15 years from now?
The world is changing, and it’s changing fast.
The good news, should you choose it, is that you get to be part of that change.
I told you back in January that I’ve been stunned at the evolution of my coaching business. What started as helping executives finding career alignment now has me helping teams redesign how work gets done inside their company.
I never, ever could have guessed this is where I’d end up in a million years. CEOs sharing their most pressing problems with me. Working with leadership teams to get everyone to agree on “standards of excellence” and getting to design how that permeates into every area inside the company? WHAT? Are you serious???!!!
After 15 years of interviewing executives hearing about the massive dysfunction inside their organization to now being on the inside helping them change that?
I mean, for 15+ years I heard 30,000 people basically complain to me how much they don’t like their jobs.
And now I get help design how work gets done and operationalize high performance companies? Um…..pinch me.
It’s a dream come true…a dream that I NEVER thought possible if I hadn’t gone through my “dark night of the soul” where I questioned everything. Every belief. Everything I accepted as truth.
Come With Us
Now here I am being part the solution to dysfunctional work environments. That I now believe (because I used to doubt myself) will help so many people, thousands of people, maybe one day millions of people…and yes I am a massive dreamer.
Redesigning the way work gets done so people get to love work again, be rewarded and recognized for their natural gifts and be so excited about their company’s mission, and operate from a place of joy and excitement rather than fear and worry.
Wouldn’t that be great?
No more Sunday Scaries?
Work environments that bring the BEST out their people, which in turn allows the company to flourish, grow and continue to attract great people and customers?
We veered a little too far off track, guys. Command and control. Squeezing every last bit of production from people. More more more. With less less less.
It all gets to change. It all has to change. Because I don’t know about you, but the old way is NOT working.
At the height of my dysfunction I was bringing in the most money I could have ever imagined. Yet I was missing my children’s lives. I wasn’t sleeping. I snapped at the people closest to me. That certainly was not a version of myself that I ever want to visit again.
But after experiencing the worst, I chose differently.
Just like any business leader can choose to lead and work differently, too.
There are so many smart people I know helping create these businesses of the future. I get energized by being around possibility thinkers that turn that possibility into action. It’s happening, this work revolution.
So don’t let others convince you it’s all doom and gloom. There are plenty of futurists in the arena that are showing us the way. I am one of them, my business partner is one of them, and all the consultants we’re working with are, and I bet if you’re nodding along to this you are one of them too.
